The Le Havre & Rouen School of Art & Design (ESADHaR) is a public higher education institution dedicated to art,  graphic design, and literary creation. The school is divided into 2 campuses :

  • The first one in Rouen (Art Department)
  • The other in Le Havre (Graphic Design and Literary Creation Departments)

The degrees prepared are :

  • Bachelor’s Degrees in Art or Graphic Design (DNA)
  • Master’s Degrees in Art or Graphic Design (DNSEP)

How to apply :

  •     From Year 1, depending on entrance exam results
  •     All candidates must apply before 26th March. Exam sessions are held on 19th April and 7th September.
  •     From Year 2, 3, 4, and 5, upon approval of the Admission Committee
  •     All candidates must apply before 26th March. Admission Committee decisions are rendered on 19th April and 7th September.

Since September 2018, ESADHaR has also developed a PhD in Artistic Research and Creation programme (including art, graphic design, literary creation, and architecture), under the authority of the 558 HMPL Doctoral School of the University of Normandy, in partnership with ESAM Caen – Cherbourg and ENSA Normandie.

In partnership with the Maison des Arts Solange-Baudoux of Evreux, ESADHaR also opened a preparatory class for entrance exams to Art Schools at the beginning of the 2019 academic year.

ESADHaR is a member of COMUE Normandie Université (Communauté d’Universités et d’Établissements), CESAR (Conférence de l’Enseignement Supérieur de l’Agglomération de Rouen), and CHEERS (Conférence Havraise des Établissements d’Enseignement et de Recherche du Supérieur).

ESADHaR carries out several international projects, with European countries (ERASMUS programme, approximately fifteen partner schools) but also with South Korea (PaTi Typography Institute), Brazil (Universidade de Goais), and even Israel (Hebrew University of Jerusalem).

ESADHaR is one of the major cultural players in Normandy, thanks to its various exhibition halls and through the major events the school co-organises (notably Une Saison Graphique).
