A GREEN CITY & SPORTS CITY
In Le Havre, nature is just around the corner !
In Le Havre, you can quickly get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life by going for a walk on a hiking trail or in one of the many parks and gardens of the city.
Did you know ?
Since 2018, the City of Le Havre has been carrying out a public policy entitled “Le Havre Nature”, whose main purposes are to take into account environmental issues and help locals rediscover the benefits of nature in the city.
Through several environmental initiatives, the City of Le Havre encourages the development of projects designed to improve your living environment and allow biodiversity to flourish (consideration of nature in major urban projects, installation of green terraces on public buildings, management of green spaces by eco-grazing, improvement of port basins, creation of educational ponds, etc.).
The enhancement of existing natural spaces should create even tighter links between the Le Havre inhabitants and nature.
“Le Havre Nature” also aims to provide you with natural spaces throughout the city to allow you to design community gardens, tend to them, and enliven them.

The Beach
Chilling out
The beaches of Le Havre and Sainte-Adresse are equipped with numerous facilities to provide an outstanding living environment for the locals to enjoy.
Getting closer to nature has never been easier, especially on top of the cliffs or at the Cap de la Hève – also known as the “bout du monde” beach – where it is possible to enjoy a genuine breath of fresh air and a breathtaking view on the horizon. There are also several other beaches on the beautiful coastline that are best enjoyed on weekends with friends : Le Tilleul, Saint-Jouin-Bruneval, Etretat, etc.
Eating out
From the beginning of April to the end of September, Le Havre beach welcomes restaurants all along the seaside promenade.
You will be able to enjoy cuisine from all around the world (French, Italian, Oriental, crêpes, etc.) or a drink with a view on the sea in one of the nearby bars that remain open all year round.
Entertainment
The beach is also a place where cultural and sporting events take place all through the year, especially in the summer with Un Eté Au Havre, Un Eté en Forme, and the Week-end de la Glisse to name just a few.
Physical activities
The beach is also a place where you can practice several sports freely and for free. On over 3,000 m², several sports can be practiced all through the year : kite surfing, standup paddleboarding, sea kayaking, running, beach volleyball, beach soccer, basketball, pétanque, etc.
In the summer, Les Bains Maritimes offer water sports equipment rentals of funboats, standup paddles, single, double, and triple canoes, skimboards, etc.
The skate-park
The Le Havre skate park is the largest open-air skate park in France !
Inaugurated in 2006, it is located by the sea, within skating distance from the city centre.
On over 1,800 m², the skate park is one of the best equipped in France : snake runs, spine transfers, funboxes, vert ramps, banked ramps, quarter pipes, etc.
You will be able to watch the BMX riders, rollerbladers, and skateboarders freestyle from the nearby esplanade.
The skate park grants free access to amateurs and professionals alike
Several initiatives are carried out throughout the year to enable the locals to (re)discover and better understand the benefits of regular physical activity.
To be able to move around freely and safely in public spaces.
To be offered physical and sports activities adapted to their needs and desires.
With quality open spaces, a seaside promenade, 1580 hectares of forests, parks, and gardens, and more than 128 km of cycling paths, Le Havre itself is a genuine playground and an open-air gym.
