Andréa Duhamel, elected Director of ISEL

The board of directors of ISEL (Higher Institute of Logistics Studies), meeting on February 22, elected Andréa Duhamel to the position of director of ISEL. His 5-year term will begin on April 4, 2022.

Update on his career and his ambitions for ISEL

His journey
University professor of computer science at Le Havre Normandy University, his academic career is based on an international career. Doctor in computer science at PUC-Rio in Brazil in 2006, Andréa Duhamel worked for nearly 15 years in French engineering schools before joining Le Havre Normandy University. A career which has notably allowed her to exercise different functions: Deputy Vice-President in charge of digital and digital transformation at the University of Le Havre Normandy, Deputy Director for Research and Innovation at ISEL or even energy transition project manager at the University of Technology of Troyes.

Within the University of Le Havre Normandy, his research work is carried out at LITIS (Computer Science, Information Processing and Systems Laboratory). They fall within the framework of Operational Research applied to optimization problems in the context of the logistics of major crises (natural, industrial and health) and sustainable cities, including multidisciplinary aspects to resolve real socio-technical problems and city scale.

Its scientific activity brings together more than 140 publications, the support of numerous territorial, national (several ANR) and international projects. His projects have received national and international recognition.

His ambitious program for ISEL
In a context of transitions and profound changes in logistics and more generally in the structuring of engineering schools into large networks, ISEL must continue its development and face the challenges of attractiveness and influence. This is why its program is structured around three strategic axes: the development of the school, research and innovation, and international anchoring.

In terms of the school's development, Andréa Duhamel has the ambition to pursue a Polytech trajectory and to boost its training offer. The Polytech network is growing and retains the status of ISEL as an internal school at the University of Le Havre Normandy, respects the identity of the school, the values of its teaching, administrative and technical teams, and will allow positioning strategically significant in the territory. In fact, no Polytech school is currently established in Normandy. This trajectory will make it possible to avoid strategic isolation in a highly concentrated sector; to benefit from the support of a network in terms of national and international visibility, know-how, pooling of efforts; and more generally, establish the reputation and attractiveness of the school, its graduates, its students, the University of Le Havre Normandy and the region.

Another targeted development lever concerns the revitalization of its training offer to face current challenges such as DD&RSE (Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility) and digital technology.
In terms of research and innovation at ISEL, one of the flagship projects will be the ISEL Chair, Logistics Innovation (LogIn), which builds its identity around new integrative logistics models of ecological, digital, economic and Societal. Finally, the school's international policy will target Europe and the Francophonie.
